Joseph S. Alkire

Joseph S. Alkire, 78, US Army Veteran, died on Friday, April 24, 2015  at his residence in Dunnellon, FL. He was born into this life on September 7, 1936 to the late Shelton and Nellie(Thompson) Alkire in Detroit, Michigan and was raised in Mt. Sterling, OH. He and his wife Jewel of 37rs., moved to Dunnellon in 1986 from Sarasota in where he owned and operated Joe's Barber Shop. Joe and his wife Jewel attended Grand View Church in  Dunnellon. He was predeceased by one brother. Joe was loved by many and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

There will be a graveside service with military honors celebrating Joe's life on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. His family and friends will be gathering for fellowship prior to the service on Thursday at  11:00 AM at the Grand View Church in Dunnellon:12401 SW County Hwy 484, Dunnellon, FL 34432.

His family prefers in lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Joe's Memory to the Grand View Church in Dunnellon.
