Karen Jane (Hanff) Stevens

Dunnellon - Karen Jane Stevens (Hanff) passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 20. 2015 at her home under Hospice care following a 12 year battle with cancer.  Karen was born in Greenport, NY to the late Charles and Janet Hanff on 17 November 1946.  She lived her early years in the small hamlet of Islip, NY attending local schools.  After graduating from Islip High School, Karen attended the State University of New York at Potsdam.  Karen met Vince Stevens in Miami, and they were married there in 1986, and moved to the Philippines.  Karen loved to travel, visiting several Asian countries while living in the Philippines.  She also enjoyed cruises to Alaska, the Mediterranean, and the Caribbean, and travel throughout Europe.  Karen moved to Rainbow Springs after retirement in 1997.  Grandkids took up the majority of her time for several years following retirement and continued to be an important part of her life.  She was very adept at crafts, and in her free time enjoyed sewing and making greeting cards.
Karen is survived by her husband of 30 years Vince Stevens, brother Charles R. Hanff of Poulsbo, WA, sons Richard Talford and Robert Talford of Naples, FL, Step-sons Mark Stevens of Arlington VA, and Douglas Stevens of Tampa FL, 16 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren. A short memorial service for Karen will be conducted at Roberts Funeral Home in Dunnellon on 20 January 2016 at 10:00 A.M.  Those wishing to honor Karen’s memory may make a donation to The American Cancer Society, or to Hospice of Marion County
