Karen Mahoney

Dunnellon- Karen Mahoney ,80, died on December 15, 2023 while under the care of Cate’s Hospice House in Ocala, FL. She was born into this life on February 16, 1943 in Grand Rapids, Michigan and was the daughter to the late Henry and Ruth (Cremer) Degeest. Karen retired from Calvin College in Michigan as a secretary. She was a member of Riverland Baptist Church and the Red Hats “Sassy Hat Ladies” in Dunnellon. Karen volunteered at the Dunnellon Public Library and  enjoyed reading, animals and boating.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband Lawrence Mahoney, her daughter Rebecca (Scott) Mahoney-VanDuine, her son Kevin (Valerie) Mahoney, her three grandsons Robert, Kyle & Ryan, her sisters Rosemary (Ron) Byle and Beverly (Steve) VanderWall, her brother Mark (Kathy) DeGeest, her sister-in-law Marilyn (Mike) Krul, cousins Sam (Vicki) Wanner & Tammy (Tony) Corona and many cousins and nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions can be made in Karen’s memory to Hospice of Marion County.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 11AM at  Riverland Baptist Church in Dunnellon.
