Kenneth Hay Chesterfield, 74, lifelong resident of Dunnellon, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2024 at his home in Citrus Springs.
Kenny was a graduate of Dunnellon High School, and attended Central Florida Community College, RETS Electronic Engineering and Technical School in Miami, and the University of California-Los Angeles. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, and completed one tour of duty in Vietnam. Following a serious accident in California, he spent almost a year in the Camp Pendleton Naval Hospital. Upon his discharge, he returned to his beloved Dunnellon, where he was ultimately elected to the City Council.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents William (Bill) Chesterfield and Virginia (Diddy) Hay Chesterfield; his sister Peggy, his two brothers Sonny and Butch, and his two children Virginia (Ginger) and Willis. He is survived by his two sisters-in-law Sally Chesterfield (Sonny) and Diane Chesterfield (Butch) 1 daughter and 2 granddaughters, many nieces and nephews, and many lifelong friends. He is also survived by his caretaker of many years, Joanne Sorbino.
Memorial services for Kenneth Chesterfield will be held at 11 AM Thursday, June 20, 2024, at the Dunnellon Memorial Gardens. Full military honors will be provided by his beloved Marines that he loved dearly and was so proud to have been a part of. Following his service there will be a time of food and companionship at the home of Sally Chesterfield.
