Larry Gene Hill, Sr., 81, of Citrus Springs, Florida, died Saturday, February 8, 2015 with his family by his side at the University of Florida Shands Cancer Hospital.
Larry was born May 31, 1933 in Red Jacket, West Virginia, son of the late Oren C. Hill and Rebecca Katherine Musick. Larry served honorably in the Navy as photographer, was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite of Freemasonry in Columbia, South Carolina, and a leader in the Egypt Shriner’s in Tampa, Florida. Larry retired as District Manager for General Electric Credit Corporation and moved to Tampa with his wife Lois in 2001. They were members of the First United Methodist Church of Dunnellon.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Lois Elizabeth, who died in 2008. He is survived by two sons, Larry G. Hill, Jr. of Clifton, Virginia and Richard S. Hill, of Citrus Springs; four granddaughters, Thea E. Hill, of Warrenton, Virginia; Brandy M. Kirkland of Live Oak, Florida, Rachel E. Hill of Citrus Springs, Florida, and Brittany M. Hill of Fort White, Florida; and one great grandson, Deshaun, son of Rachel Hill. He was one of 6 siblings. His surviving siblings are sisters: Phyllis Adkins of Snellville, Georgia; Matilda (Gaye) Smith of Memphis, Tennessee; and a brother Charles (Benny) Hill of Garland, Texas. His brothers Jack Hill and Sidney Hill are deceased.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 2, 2015, at 2:00 PM at the Roberts Funeral Home of Dunnellon, still family owned. Reverend Eddie Fulford of the First United Methodist Church of Dunnellon with be officiating. Per his request, contributions in Larry’s memory may be given to the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children.
