Lavern A. Wiland Jr

LaVern A.Wiland Jr. (aka Sonny/Vern), age 77, passed away on Friday 12/02/2011 at the James A. Haley VA Hospital in Tampa, FL. Prior to his hospitalization he resided in Dunnellon, FL. Before moving to Florida he resided in Garden Grove, CA where he raised his family.

Vern Joined the US Navy in 1951 where he served for 12 years before retiring due to an accident which resulted in him becoming a paraplegic. He served his country proudly during his years of service.

Vern was a long time member of several organizations such as the Elks Lodge, American Legion, VFW and the PVA.

He is survived by his daughter Sandra L. (John) Loncaric of Anahiem,CA. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, daughter Donna Niemeyer, son LaVern A. Wiland III (Gus). He is survived by his sister Georgann Joyce (Ginger) of Shorewood, IL, brother Jerry Lee Wiland of Warren IN, as well as his grandchildren, great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and numerous friends.

Vern enjoyed traveling throughout the USA pulling his travel trailer. He left a positive impact on everyone who met him.

His ashes will be scattered by the US Coast Guard in the Gulf of Mexico on Saturday 12/10/2011 where he will join his son for all eternity.

I will forever cherish the memories we had. Rest in peace dad, until we meet again. Love YFD
