Lavonia Faye Phelps, 82, died on September 19, 2025 at her sister’s residence in Ocala, FL. She was born on August 12, 1943 in Virginia Beach, VA and was the daughter to the late Charles Roland Cox and Mary Susan (Collier) Cox. Lavonia moved to Dunnellon in 1994 from Baltimore, MD. She was an office associate for Little Tavern Shops. Lavonia enjoyed playing bingo on Thursdays at the American Legion in Dunnellon. She also enjoyed collecting dolls and Elvis Presley memorabilia.
Lavonia is preceded in death by her husband, Wesley A. Phelps; her two brothers, Richard and BeBe Cox.
Those left to cherish her memories are her son, Wesley A. Phelps, Jr.; her daughter, Susan Wilkins and her husband, James G. Wilkins, Jr.; her four brothers, Don Cox, Chester Cox, Joe Joe Cox, and Danny Cox; her sisters, Jean Balliett, Mary Pellegrini-Natale, and Martha Lyden; her two grandchildren, Makayla Wilkins and James Grant Wilkins, III; her two great grandchildren, Paisley Cornwell and Carson Waddell.

Lavonia will be laid to rest next to her husband at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
