Lawrence G. Mahoney, 85, died unexpectedly on January 30, 2026 at the Lodge Health and Rehabilitation Center in Ocala. He was born into this life on November 27, 1940 in Grand Rapids, Michigan and was the son to the late George and Selena (Fletcher) Mahoney. Lawrence was an electrician by trade and retired from Grand Rapids Community College. He served our country with the United States Army Reserves. Lawrence and his late wife, Karen moved to Dunnellon in 2004. He was a member of Riverland Baptist Church. Lawrence truly had a passion for woodworking as he spent countless of hours in his wood shop creating many different things including his own sailboat, in which he and his late wife would often use to sail the Michigan waters. He also loved working on his model trains in which he most recently created a whole city for them. Between Lawrence and his late wife, Karen, they had three train sets. Lawrence was a humble, gentle, and loving man who loved animals and his resplendent light touched many lives he encountered.

His preceded in death by his wife, Karen Mahoney and his sister, Marilyn Krull.

Those left to cherish his memories are his daughter, Rebecca (Scott) Mahoney-VanDuine; his son, Kevin (Valerie) Mahoney; his three grandsons, Robert, Kyle and Ryan; his sister, Marilyn Krull and his two cousins, Sam Wanner (Vicky) and Tammy Corona (Tony).

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at 11AM at Riverland Baptist Church: 19455 SW 61st. Street, Dunnellon, FL 34432.
