Linda S. Opella
of Oak Run- Ocala FL. 78 passed away peacefully Monday July 6, 2026, in Citra FL, t her son’s home, under the care of her family and Gentiva Hospice. Linda was born on October 1, 1947, daughter to the late Vivian Ruley and Harold Stewart in Syracuse N.Y. Linda spent her early years in Syracuse, later moving to Florida, where she finally met and married the love of her life Martin Opella in 2001. Together Linda and her beloved husband Martin enjoyed traveling and creating countless cherished memories with their grandchildren, great grandchildren, family, & friends. Linda loved taking care of her husband and home. She loved all their dogs, especially her little baby Teddy. Linda enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino, and going out to restaurants for seafood & steaks. Linda was a cherished sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all that knew her. She was one of kind and truly irreplaceable, leaving a void in the hearts of everyone who loved her.
Linda is survived by her Sister Penny Oakes (Jerry) of Citra Fl, son Randy McDowell (Tammy) of Asheboro NC, son Richard McDowell of Asheboro NC, daughter Amy Hopkins (Michael) of Canastota NY, son Michael Ruggireo (Jannette) of Citra FL along with 20 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren, many beloved nieces, & nephews Lifelong Best Friend Joanne Cramer-Buchanan of S.C.
Linda is predeceased by her loving husband Martin Opella & 5 brothers.
There will be a graveside committal service Monday July 13,2026 at 10:30 am at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Her family will meet at Roberts Funeral Home of Dunnellon at 9:00 am and will form a procession to the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Gentiva Hospice-Ocala 1320 Southeast 25th Loop Ocala FL. 34471. The family of Linda Opella wishes to thank Gentiva Hospice and Ms. Cynthia for their care and compassion.
