Lisa “Lis” Jean (Trapp) Bachteler

September 3, 1959 – July 20, 2026

Beloved daughter of deceased parents, Don and Jo Trapp, and leaving behind Donna Grimm (sister) Brendan and Jody Grimm (nephew and niece) and many cousins. Lis was also a dog, bunny, and ct mama to her dearest Candy, Tasha, Kitaro, Prince and Zuzu.

Lis was raised on Apple Hill in Glastonbury, CT where she’s jump on a trampoline or climb apple trees for hours with her sister and best childhood friend, Janet. Her summers were spent swimming and diving at Woodledge pool club. Lis became a champion diver at Glastonbury High School and held the record for points in diving at Glastonbury High School for 25 years. She attended Clarion College where her roommate, Beth, became her confidante; Lis continued her pursuits in diving through college, becoming an All American and eventually attending the Olympic Trials.

Lis lived most of her adult life in Florida where her home in Dunnellon became her happy place. She loved tending to the yard, spending time with her animals, walking loops around her neighborhood, and chit chatting with people all over town. Lis may have been small in size, but her spirit was anything but. Her joy was contagious, her excitement for life unwavering. She bopped around town in bright colors, matching head to toe, eager to connect with friend at her pool club in Dunnellon or float in the water at Rainbow Springs.

Lis played piano all her life and shard her love of music enthusiastically. The majority of her career was spent teaching piano to children in her local community. In the last decade Lis began writing inspirational music of her own and sharing it on her YouTube channel, Sober Healing. Over the years Lis became passionate about using music to uplift those struggling with addiction. Movement was another love o Lis’s. Over the years she taught aerobics, practiced tai chi and yoga, and most recently took up line dancing. Within a year of learning dance she was teaching weekly classes.

Lis was loved by many; she had a close group of friends, some of whom supported he, day and night, until her last days. Lis’s family would like to send their deepest gratitude to Dawn Marie, Barbara, Dawn R., Amanda, Anne, Kirk and Sarah for keeping Lis well fed, laughing, and loved until the end (and to all the others who called and visited to assist). Your companionship meant the world to her.

Lis’s family will miss her terribly, her daily phone calls for decades, her step by step video tutorials of her latest gluten free sweet treat or tea latte, her never ending encouragement, her creative and thoughtful homemade gifts, the way she stayed close even though geographically far away, and the way she always made everything seem like it was going to be okay.

Until we meet again Lis, rest in eternal peace.

Lis was laid to rest in a private burial at Prairie Creek Conservation Cemetery in Gainesville, FL on July 29.
