Obituary

With sad hearts we report that our mother, Loretta Ann Frisina, 93, of Dunnellon, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 9th, 2026.

Loretta was born September 14th, 1932, and raised in the small town of Shinglehouse, Pennsylvania. The daughter of Keith and Thelma Foote, she was the valedictorian of Shinglehouse High School in 1950. She went on to study at Oberlin College. On August 14th, 1954, she married the love of her life, Don Frisina, at St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany, NY, and they started their family in Franklinville, NY. Later, they moved to Long Island, NY, where they raised four children in St. James, NY. After the kids grew up and Don retired, they settled in Dunnellon, Florida, in 1986.

Lorrie enjoyed sunshine, traveling, and basketball. She was an avid and knowledgeable fan, breaking away from her quiet demeanor during games when Don was coaching at Port Jefferson High School, and later when attending Florida Gators games in Gainesville. She loved reading and all kinds of music, especially Broadway musicals; one of her favorites was Nat King Cole's album, "Unforgettable." She played the piano and encouraged and supported all of her children in playing musical instruments.

Her life was defined by her love for her family. She always put them first, offering a listening ear, an easy sense of humor, and an infectious laugh. However, you knew you were in trouble if she called you by both your first and middle names. Her catchphrase was "Oh, Godfrey," which she used in a variety of ways. Lorrie took great pride in her cooking, whether making meatballs that her Italian mother-in-law would approve of, or gingerbread men that Mrs. Claus would envy. In Florida, she thoroughly enjoyed the friendships she made through the Altar and Rosary Society at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Dunnellon. Lorrie and Don took trips all over, including Yellowstone, Yosemite, San Francisco, Pebble Beach, the Grand Canyon, Alaska, Montreal, Quebec, Hawaii, London, Paris, and Rome, along with more than a few College Basketball Final Fours. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, and unconditional love.

We are so grateful for all the time spent with her at home, on the beaches of Long Island, and on family vacations to Allegany, Shinglehouse, the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and the rolling hills of our family farm in Keating Summit, PA. We will carry her adventurous spirit with us always, and the lessons she taught by example—about kindness, quiet strength, resilience, and generosity—will live on.

Lorrie is survived by her children, Dave Frisina (Jennifer), Steven Frisina, and Lynn Hardy (Scott); her son-in-law, Steve Hampton; and her nephew, Keith Henderson. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michael Frisina (Carrie), Daniel Frisina (Sara), Dylan Frisina (Ana), Mark Frisina (Yuka), Adam Hardy (Kiley), Zach Hardy (Marisa), and Brian Hampton (Courtney); and her seven great-grandchildren, Adelyn, Amelia, Miles, Izumi, Yuzuki, Will, and Ollie, along with an extended network of family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Kathleen Henderson; her husband, Don; and her daughter, Martha Hampton.

Our family would like to thank The Windsor of Ocala, Hospice of Marion County, and Cate's House for their considerate care.

There will be a private family celebration of her life in July.
