Lorraine J. Skinner O.C.D.S., 79, of Dunnellon, died at her residence on Sunday (1/26/14) surrounded by her loving family and care giver. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Stephen and Anna (Holdowicz) Niemczura.
Mrs. Skinner was a Nurse Practioner with the Marion County Public Health Unit and served in the United States Air National Guard during Viet Nam. She was a member the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites. She was also a very active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Dunnellon, the Altar Rosary Society; Emmaus; Social Justice/Pro Life; the Charismatic Prayer Group. Mrs. Skinner was a Catechist/R.C.I.A. Facilitator; a Eucharistic Minister and Lector; a Rosary maker; a Minister to the Sick and Bereavement Minister; and member of the Legacy League.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles R. Skinner II in 2009 and step son Charles W. Skinner in 1995 . Surviving Family includes her step daughter Sandra Scott; grandchildren Courtney Eyster and Jonathan Scott and his daughter Haley; brother Charles R. Niemczura; nephew Steve Niemczura and his children Drake, Dane, Darby, and Shelby; niece Suzie (husband Gary) Romero and their daughter Olivia; niece Patricia (husband Ben) Wall and their son Forrest; and a first cousin Rev. Bob Buddinak.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday (1/29) 1:00 PM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 7545 South Highway 41, Dunnellon (352) 489-3166. Family and Friends will visit at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 AM, with the Liturgy of Hours beginning at 10:00 AM, followed by Rosary at 10:30. A Repast will be at 11:30 AM at the church hall.
Military Honors will be provided by the Wall-Rives American Legion Post # 58 Honor Guard on Wednesday 11:00 AM at the church.
The family suggest memorial donations to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Renovation Fund.
