Louis R. Gallo, 81, passed away on January 14, 2016. Lou was born on December 17, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY to Luigi and Margaret Gallo. He is survived by his wife, Loretta of 57 years, his daughters, Cynthia Callan (William) of Springfield, IL, Theresa Blackadar (Albert) of Searsport, ME, Marie Hall (Steven) of Coventry, CT, sister Arlene Malaspina (Raymond) of Freehold, NJ. He had seven grandchildren, Laura, Jason, Benjamin, Austin, Victoria, Samuel and Claire, and two great-grandchildren, Emma and Wyatt.
Lou worked as a butcher in New York, Connecticut, New Jersey and Delaware before retiring to Florida in 1993. A parishioner of St. John the Baptist Parish, Lou was active in liturgical ministry as an altar server, an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, and Mass of the Resurrection. Lou started the “Sausage Makers” as a fundraiser for the parish. He was avidly involved in genealogy of his family, enjoyed travel, playing cards with friends, and walking his dog Katie.
Funeral Mass will held on Monday, January 18, 2016 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Dunnellon, Florida at 10:30 a.m. There will be visitation in the chapel prior to the start of Mass beginning at 10:00 am.
