Manuel Sola, 83, died on October 10, 2022 while under the care of Hospice at Cate's House in Ocala, FL. He was born into this life on May 3, 1939 in Aguada, Puerto Rico and was the son to the late Manuel and Maria Sola. Manuel moved to Dunnellon in 1989 from Meriden, CT. While in Meriden he was active with St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and was part of the Ultreya, which is a Spanish word, derived from the original Latin, meaning “Onward”. In the Cursillo Movement, this is expressed through a large gathering known as an Ultreya. Here, Cursillistas throughout the Diocese come together and create “floating” group reunions, which utilize the same sharing method as do friendship groups, which is to share their piety, study and action. He was a faithful parishoner of the Spanish Mass at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Dunnellon. Manuel was a carpenter, handyman and pretty much a jack of all trades. He truly had a passion for growing plants, and he even would sell and donate a lot of them at the monthly flea market held at the American Legion in Dunnellon. His love for birds started in his home with many different breeds and extended to the outside backyard where he had many bird houses and feeders. He had many different stories to tell and can have you laughing pretty quickly. Up until the end, he had a good sense of humor and worked in his yard growing gandules and many other different plant species.
May the angels lead you into paradise, May the martyrs receive you at your coming, and take you into Jerusalem, the Holy city. May the choirs of the angels receive you, and may you, with the once poor Lazarus, Have rest everlasting. Amen. May the souls of all the faithful departed, Through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. "DE COLORES"
He is survived by his wife, Angela "Felita" Sola; his children, William Sola, James Sola, Robert Sola, Carlos Sola, George Sola, Louis Sola, Rebecca Gonzales and many grand and great grandchildren.
