Martha R. Spalmacin, 83, died unexpectedly on Monday, July 13, 2026 in HCA Ocala Hospital. Martha was born into this life on February 8, 1943 in New York City, NY and was the daughter to the late John and Anne (Ferone) Simkonis. She was born and raised in Queens, NY and attended Queens College. Martha met her future husband, Alan Spalmacin on a blind date in 1960, and eventually married in 1966 following Alan’s service with the US Air Force, and made their home in Poughkeepsie, NY where their children were born and raised. While living in Poughkeepsie, Martha worked for a Credit Union and IBM. In 2005, Martha and her husband decided to move to Rainbow Springs, Dunnellon, Florida, and attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Martha was a socially active, developing friends everywhere she went and enjoyed playing cards and mahjong. She also enjoyed cooking and socializing. Martha lived life to the fullest and will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband of 60yrs., Alan Spalmacin, Dunnellon, Fl; her son, Geoffrey Spalmacin and his wife, Karen of Jacksonville, Fl; his daughters, Kristine Nicholson and her husband, Scott of Rincon, GA, and Donna Besant and her husband, Peter of Morehead, KY; her brothers, Carl Simkonis and his wife Susan of Northern, KY, and Frank Simkonis of Lexington, KY; her grandchildren, Sydney Nicholson, Nathan Besant, and Ella Besant. 

There will be a public visitation held on Friday, July 17, 2026 from 4-6 PM at Roberts Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service at 6PM in the funeral home. A committal service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 10 AM at Fero Memorial Gardens in Beverly Hills, Fl.
