Mary Ann
Amato
January 21, 1941 – May 11, 2026
St. Timothy Catholic Church
Starts at 10:00 am (Eastern time)
Mary Ann was a woman whose warmth, generosity, and unmistakable spark made every room brighter the moment she walked in. She passed peacefully on May 11, 2026 surrounded by her family.
Born to Jennie (née Nappo) and Frank Volpe, she grew up surrounded by love alongside her siblings -Virginia Salerno, Frank Volpe (deceased), Joan Russo, and sister-in-law Marilyn Volpe, in addition to cousins who were like siblings.
She married Mike Amato and gained another family filled with people who loved her equally as her own family did. She had one daughter, Lisa, but many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews to whom she was a 2nd mom and grandmother.
Mary Ann worked as an executive administrative assistant on Wall Street. Her sharp mind, impeccable organization, and natural ability to connect with people made her unforgettable to everyone she worked with. After retiring in 2000, she embraced a new chapter in The Villages, Florida, where she built a beautiful life filled with friends, laughter, and love.
Mary Ann was the heart of every gathering. She loved entertaining, and her home was always full — of people, of food, of laughter, of life. If you walked through her door, you were fed until you couldn’t breathe, and you left feeling like family. She adored going to the squares, where she danced, socialized, and soaked in every moment. She lived with joy, and she shared that joy freely.
She was constant source of comfort, humor, and unconditional love. To her extended family, she was a steady presence, a storyteller, and the life of every party. Mary Ann had a way of making everyone feel seen and special, a gift that will be remembered forever.
Mary Ann’s final hours were spent in the care of a hospice team who treated her with extraordinary kindness. In honor of that compassion, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Casa Bella House at Cornerstone Hospice, whose staff cared for her with such tenderness in her final hours. Mary Ann lived fully, loved deeply, and gave generously. Her spirit will continue to shine in the memories she created, the stories we continue to tell and the countless lives she touched.
