Mike "Simmy" Bryant, 71, of Dunnellon, Florida, passed away on March 13, 2024.

Mike was a beloved friend to all, known for his charming and magnetic personality. He never met a stranger and had a gift for making everyone feel like a lifelong friend. His kindness, gentleness and unwavering love touched the lives of many. Mike cherished his family and friends above all else, with a special place in his heart for his dogs and the gun range.

Throughout his life, Mike faced numerous challenges with incredible strength and determination. His resilience and fighting spirit were evident as he battled various illnesses, including cancer, heart disease, and even surviving a lightning strike. He never gave up the fight to spend one more day with those he loved, showcasing his unwavering dedication to those he loved.

Mike proudly served in the US Air Force and later pursued a career as an HVAC and Commercial Refrigeration Guru, as well as working with the Marion County Sheriff's Department. In his free time, he enjoyed shooting at the OSA Range. This range was his home away from home.

He was NRA Certified and a leading member of the range.  He was given the title of Chief range safety officer, an OSA historian.  A crowning moment he spoke highly of was when he helped build the Range's rifle range. Mike also enjoyed scuba diving, spending time with loved ones, and coaching sports that his kids participated in.  Mike and his wife Mary Jo never missed a game.  In years past; He was a familiar face at his local 7-11, where he spent time with friends and shared laughter, a Chicago version of Cheers with his boys.

He is survived by his devoted wife and best friend, Mary Jo, his children Jennifer Bryant White and Matthew Bryant, son-in-law James White, daughter-in-law Hope Bryant, and grandchildren Aidan, Ryan, Nathan, Landyn, Edward, and Clara Mae. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Zillah Bryant.

A ceremony to honor Mike's life will be held this summer when his ashes are laid to rest in the Florida National Cemetery. Details will be updated once provided by the US Military.  In lieu of flowers and gifts; Contributions in Mike's memory can be made to The University of Florida Cancer Research Center.  He would want to give those who were around him and the hands that healed him for years and years, a better fighting chance.

The Roberts Funeral Home in Dunnellon, Florida, is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Rest in peace, Mike. Your laughter, strength, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew you.
