Monique P. Herlocker

Feb 25, 1938 — Oct 13, 2026

Monique P. Herlocker (Roy), 88, of Ocala, Florida passed away peacefully in her sleep

on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.

Born in Barre, Vermont on February 25, 1938 to Bernard “BJ” and Marie Anna Roy,

Monique was the fifth of eight children. She lived in Barre, Plainfield, and Newport, VT

growing up and she attended Sacred Heart High School. Monique then met her first

husband, Richard Rodin, who she married in 1956, making their home in Newport and

eventually St. Johnsbury, West Barnet, Peacham and South Ryegate. They welcomed

two children together, Marcus and Cherie. They later divorced amicably in 1990.

Monique was a dedicated employee for 25 years for New England Telephone Co. where

she had many friends and never missed a single day of work. She was in the Newport,

St. Johnsbury and White River Junction, VT offices. Her retirement “fun job” was

working at the brand new J.C. Penney store at the Berlin Mall. She loved every minute

and earned well-deserved recognition as an outstanding employee. It was there that

she met Lloyd Herlocker with whom she enjoyed 27 years of marriage.

Monique and Lloyd travelled the U.S. in their fifth-wheel camper then toured Europe, as

well. They settled in Dunnellon, Florida where they were devoted church members and

part of a weekly square dancing group.

Monique left lasting impressions on her coworkers and friends with her beautiful smile

and sense of humor. She was strong, stubborn, never complained and always wore her

“signature look” of matching and colorful necklaces daily in later years. She opened an

antique shop, a life-long dream, next door to her Florida home, putting to use her vast

knowledge and many yard sale treasures. She loved rearranging her merchandise and

opening for business whenever she felt like it. In earlier years, she was a talented

vegetable canner, amazing cook, seamstress, and very clever with crochet and cross-stitching.

She also loved snowmobiling with family and friends.

Monique loved her residency at Bridgewater Park Assisted Living in Ocala for the last

seven years. Her cozy apartment was full of family photos, teddy bears, and a year-round

small, decorated Christmas tree. She was a staff favorite, loving bingo, the movie

theatre, the entertainment, crafting and listening to piano tunes on the piano she

personally donated to the facility.

Monique is predeceased by her son Matthew, who died as an infant in 1959; her parents

and all seven of her siblings, Alene Judd, George Roy, Gilberte Bennett, Mariette

Moekens, Joette Lantagne, Michael Roy and Sonny Roy. She lost her beloved husband

Lloyd Herlocker in 2019 and her companion Johnnie Hayes in 2025.

She is survived by her son Marcus Rodin and longtime partner Angela Musico of

Dunnellon, FL, and daughter Cherie Frost and husband Kevin of Barre, VT and Yuma, AZ;

her granddaughters Mallory Frost and husband Gareth Bird of Sydney, Australia and

Kelsey Frost of Oceanside, CA and great-grandchildren Ethan and Adeline of Sydney,

Australia. Also surviving are Monique’s stepdaughters, Sandy Prue and Terri Goodwin

and their children and grandchildren. In addition are many surviving nieces and

nephews and beloved friends that she made everywhere she went.

Monique was so proud of her son and daughter and two granddaughters and all their

many accomplishments. She sadly did not have the opportunity to see her greatgrandchildren

often, something she deeply regretted. Monique fought her final battle

with grace, dignity and quiet strength. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a

legacy of love that will never be forgotten. She will be deeply missed by her family and

all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Monique’s family wishes to extend thanks to Bridgewater Park Assisted Living in Ocala,

FL for the past seven years. Their beautiful facility and amazing staff provided

compassion, deep friendships and unconditional love. A very special thank you to

Pablo Suazo, director of residential services for his incomparable support and kindness

to Monique.

Lastly, recognition is due to Monique’s dearest Dunnellon, FL friends Lori Frazee and

Leon Wierzbinski for moving her and their endless support, care and love for decades.

Monique requested donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the Alpha-1 Foundation in lieu

of flowers. A Newport, VT graveside service will be at a later date at the convenience of

her family.
