Myrna A. Sheffield

December 19, 1939 — October 16, 2019

Ocala, formerly of Dunnellon

Myrna Ann Sheffield, 79, devoted wife of Howard A. Sheffield of Ocala, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, October 16. Her family and friends surrounded her. She was born on December 19, 1939 in Brooksville, Florida, to the late Hilliard and Jessie Mae (Patillo) Allen.

Myrna grew up in Dunnellon, Florida, where she enjoyed her family and made life-long friends. She met the love of her life, Howard Sheffield, at Dunnellon High School, and they were happily married for 62 faithful years.  Myrna and Howard lived many places during their married life including Arizona, North Carolina, Mississippi, and Ohio, but they spent most of those years in McAlisterville, Pennsylvania, where they raised their family at the base of Shade Mountain.  In the last few years, Myrna and Howard returned to Ocala, Florida, near most of their extended family. Myrna loved God’s Creation and found great pleasure in caring for flowers and birds. She also loved music, playing cards, and watching all kinds of sports. Myrna was a great encourager to everyone especially her family. One of her lasting legacies will be the countless hours she spent in prayer for her husband, children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, family and friends. She loved the Lord Jesus with an unwavering devotion through good and difficult times. Myrna’s life will be missed and celebrated by Howard and her two daughters, Lori Varner (Daryl) from Daytona Beach and Lee Bjornsen (Mark) from Siloam Springs, Arkansas. She was one of nine children and is survived by her sister, Sharon Fronk from Lake Helen, Florida, and her sister-in-law, Evelyn Harper of Dunnellon. Myrna had 3 grandchildren, Zachary Varner (Becky), Amber Varner, and Elizabeth Bjornsen and 2 great-grandchildren, Ben and Wesley Varner. In addition, 1 granddaughter, Jenni Varner, preceded her in death. There are also many nieces and nephews who found a special place in her heart.

The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 19th at 2:00 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home Chapel, 19939 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Dunnellon, Florida, with Pastor Russ Randall of First Baptist Church in Dunnellon officiating.
