N. JOHN “JACK” THOMAS, born December 17, 1924 in Buffalo, New York, son of Lila & Ulysses Thomas. Mr. Thomas was a graduate of Nichols Prep School, Yale College and Harvard Law School. A member of the U.S. Navy, John was active duty during World War II on the aircraft carrier USS Ranger. A fifty year member of the Florida & New York Bar Associations, Mr. Thomas was also a Past President, Rotary Fellow and member of the Rotary Club of St. Petersburg West. Mr. Thomas practiced law in both New York & Florida. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Frances, daughter Amy & Son-in-Law Steve Brown of Inverness, Bill & Betty Copeland, Nina Copeland, Louisa Gerking, Tim Fenton, Steve Burke and numerous nieces & nephews. Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and Fred Copeland. A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, September 12, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at the Community Congregational Church in Citrus Springs. Burial with full military honors will follow at Fero Memorial Gardens in Beverly Hills at 2:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Building Fund of the Community Congregational Church of Citrus Springs or to the charity of choice.
