Orrin G. Oftedahl

It is with great sadness we announce Orrin G. Oftedahl, 81, US Navy Veteran, died on Friday, June 27, 2014 at the hospice center in Lecanto, FL. He was born into this life on March 5, 1933 to the late Otto S. and Gunda (Julson) Oftedahl in Fessenden, North Dakota.


A 1960 graduate of Whichita State University in Kansas and served in the US Military with the US Navy Orrin was stationed in Phillipines before settling in Dunnellon in November of 1998 coming from Sterling, VA. He retired with the civil service as a chemist for US Geological Survey. Besides his loving family Orrin had a heart for his Savior Jesus Christ in which he truly loved reading specifically the word of God through scripture.

He is survived by his wife of 57yrs., Soledad “Solie” Oftedahl, Dunnellon; his children, Lloyd Oftedahl, Burke, VA, Richard Oftedahl, West Melbourne, FL and Julie Oftedahl, Elkton, MD; his brother, Ronald Oftedahl, Palatka; his grandchildren, Jaclyn Shenton, Kevin Oftedahl and Richelle Oftedahl; his great grandchildren, Andres Shenton and Adrienne Shenton. “We Love You and We will Miss You until We meet Again”.

Funeral Services celebrating Orrin's life will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Grand View Church, 12401 SW County Hwy. 484, Dunnellon, FL 34432. There will be a formal Public Visitation which will be held one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell Florida at 2:00 PM with full Military Honors.
