Patrick Harris

May the Angels lead you into paradise; may the martyrs greet you at your arrival and lead you into the holy city, Jerusalem.  Patrick W. “Pat” Harris, 78, died suddenly on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at his residence in Dunnellon.

He was born into this life on January 14, 1944 in Rockledge, FL and grew up in Brooksville, FL. Pat was the son to the late Sterling Logan Harris and Effie Lee (Lyons) Harris. He served our country with the United States Army in White Sands, New Mexico and Point Fort Ord California. Following his release from active duty in the military, Pat relocated to Brooksville, FL where he raised his family and was working for Florida Rock Industries and then went to work for Bellsouth later becoming AT&T, where he began his career. Pat eventually transferred to Dunnellon in 1987, and retired as a First Line Supervisor in 1995. After moving to Dunnellon Pat started volunteering at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and came into the Roman Catholic Church in 1995. Since then Pat has served as an administrator of the Parish, an usher at the 10:30 AM Mass on Sundays and also offering countless hours volunteering to help keep the church grounds beautiful. He also enjoyed woodworking and working in his yard. Pat was a member of the American Legion Post 58 in Dunnellon and was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus.  Pat was a quiet, humble man who will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his two brothers, Logan Edward and Michael David one sister, Judith Ora and his son in law, Mike.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Joanne Harris; son, William E. “Eddie” Harris and his wife Dawn; daughter, Holly Ann Wilkinson; brother, Taylor Lee; stepdaughter, Patricia Everly; four grandsons, one granddaughter and one granddaughter in law.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 11AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church: 7525 S. US Hwy 41, Dunnellon, FL 34432. There will be a public viewing from 10-11 AM. Following the mass everyone is invited to the church hall for a repast meal. Burial will be held on Monday, January 16, 2023 at 10AM at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL with military honors.
