Paul F. Dungan, Jr.

It is with a heavy heart to announce the passing of retired Hollywood, FL Police Department Master Officer Paul Dungan. He was born on July 18, 1948 in Chicago, IL. Paul was the son to the late Paul F. Dungan, Sr. and Betty Dolderer.

Paul served his country as a US Army MP and was a Vietnam War Veteran.  He served the City of Hollywood for twenty-one years in a career that spanned thirty-four years total after serving the DuPage County Sheriff’s office (IL) and the Oakbrook Terrace Police Department (IL).  Paul was a dedicated commander for the Hollywood PD Honor Guard Unit, founding director and commander of the Broward County Multi-Agency Honor Guard which he created during his police career prior to his retirement in 2004. His vision and Multi-Agency concept continues today in Broward County and is a model for agencies across the country. Paul organized the first Police Honor Guard academy in 1996, which continues today, having trained over 2500 police officers and firefighters from as far away as California. In 2004, Paul and his late wife Vicki made their home in Dunnellon.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a member of the  Wall Rives American Legion Post 58 in Dunnellon. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

Paul is preceded in death by his wife Vicki Dungan.  Those left to cherish his memories are his sons, Matt Dungan, Hollywood, FL, Jason Dungan(Nikki), Port Orange, FL, and Adam Dungan(Nicole) Ocala, FL; his brother, James Dungan(Mary), AZ and four grandchildren.

Funeral Services celebrating Paul’s life will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Roberts Funeral Home in Dunnellon. Burial will follow at Fero Memorial Gardens in Beverly Hills where he will be laid to rest next to his wife.
