Richard Gary Belmont, 81, of Dunnellon, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026.

Richard, known to most as Rick, was born on April 28, 1944, in Exeter, New Hampshire. He was the son of Loretta Rodier and Jerry Belmont. Rick is survived by his brother Charlie Belmont and sister-in-law Dianne Belmont of York, Maine; his stepsister Cecily McNair; nephews Kevin Belmont and Brian Belmont; and niece Kimberly Belmont. He was the devoted husband of Diane Belmont, loving stepfather to Carl Hanselman Jr. and his wife Lisa, and a proud grandfather to Jordan Hanselman and Kendall Reynolds. Rick was also a devoted “dog father” to his beloved companions, Billy and Joey.

Rick attended schools in Newmarket, New Hampshire, and proudly served his country in the United States Navy, enlisting on April 14, 1965. He served honorably until his discharge in 1968.

Following his military service, Rick began a long and dedicated career at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, where he worked until his retirement in 1998 while living in Exeter, New Hampshire. After retiring from the Shipyard, he continued working with Merrill Construction while residing in Deerfield, New Hampshire, before relocating to Dunnellon, Florida, in 2006.

On May 17, 2014, Rick married Diane Marks, with Pastor Rex Carringer officiating the ceremony at Riverland Baptist Church in Dunnellon, Florida.

Rick was a man of strong character and deep convictions. He loved his family, was proud of his country, and found great joy riding his Harley-Davidsons. He will be remembered for his loyalty, strong work ethic, and the quiet strength he brought to the lives of those who knew and loved him.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
