RICHARD S. EVANS, age 89 Dunnellon, died Saturday, July 9, 2011 at the Hospice Care Unit at Citrus Memorial Hospital. Mr. Evans was born in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania in 1921. He moved here in 1990 from Tamarac, Florida. He was a graduate of Dunmore High School of Dunmore, PA and Roosevelt Aviation School in New York City and CFCC in Ocala. Mr. Evans retired from Pan-American World Airways with more than 30 years of service and served our Country in the U.S. Army/Air Corps during World War II. Mr Evans was a member of Dunnellon Presbyterian Church, V.F.W. and American Legion Posts both of Dunnellon and the Inverness Elks Lodge #2522. Survivors include his daughter, Sandra Jean (Don) Baldwin of Brooksville, FL, his brother, Wyndham “Bill” (Bernice) Evans of Little Egg Harbor, NJ and longtime friend and companion, Betty Stevens. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Ruth Evans. Memorial services will be conducted on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. from the Dunnellon Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jeffrey Welch officiating. Inurnment with full military honors will be on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 11:30 A.M. at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.
