Richard Francis “Dick” Menera, 87, of Dunnellon, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on March 27, 2026. Born on October 2, 1938, in Flushing, New York, he was the beloved son of the late James and Mildred (Giardino) Menera.

Dick graduated from Roslyn High School in Roslyn, New York and attended Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont. He proudly served as a Sergeant in the New York Army National Guard attached to the Seventh Regiment in New York City. He spent the majority of his professional career at the American Cyanamid Company, where he worked as a Senior Systems Analyst until his retirement. In his retirement years, Dick fulfilled his entrepreneurial spirit as the owner of a Blimpie Subs and Salads franchise in Danbury, Connecticut.

Dick shared 61 wonderful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Dorothy (McGinley) Menera. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and family. He was the proud father of three daughters — Barbara (Menera) Davis, Christine Menera, and Jennifer (Menera) Wyman (Michael) — and a cherished grandfather to Jeffrey Davis (Erin), Jessica Davis, Sarah Wyman, and Thomas Wyman.

He is also survived by his loving siblings — sisters Virginia Trevor and Barbara Ryner and brother James Menera. Dick remained closely connected to friends from his childhood throughout his life, valuing those lifelong bonds deeply.

A lifelong enthusiast of model railroading, Dick found joy in the meticulous details and creativity of his hobby. He was also a passionate Walt Disney fan who appreciated the magic and imagination of the parks and movies. Above all, Dick was famous among family and friends for his jokes, quick wit and playful humor that never failed to brighten a room.

Dick will be remembered for his generosity, warmth, and unwavering dedication to his family. His joyful spirit will be deeply missed but forever treasured in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.
