Richard George Osborn

February 25, 1930 — May 9, 2015

Richard G. Osborn of Citrus Springs, Florida died unexpectedly on May 9, 2015 in Miami, FL. He was born in Columbia City, Indiana on February 25, 1930 to the late Harry H. and Tressa(Dinius) Osborn.  Mr. Osborn was a retired manufacturing engineer. He was retired from International Harvester (Truck Plant) Fort Wayne, IN and United Technologies (Pratt & Whitney Aircraft) West Palm Beach, FL. He graduated from Purdue University with a masters degree. Richard served his country in the Army two years during WWII at the age of 16 and also served in the US Navy four years during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 98, Columbia City, IN, the VFW Post 7991 Dunnellon,FL and the DAV. He was a member of the North Oak Baptist Church of Citrus Springs. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Withlachochee Chapter, Geneology Society of Citrus Springs, FL and a member of the Marion County Honor Guard. He was also the secretary and historian for the USS Mellette APA 156 reunion group.

Mr. Osborn was preceded in death by his brother Benjamin M. Osborn and sister, Mara Lee(Snodgrass) Osborn.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary  Pauline Osborn, Citrus Springs, FL; his daughter, Paula K. Osborn-Vasquez (Carlos), Miami, FL and his grandaughter, Emily C. Vasquez, Miami, FL.

A visitation will be held at North Oak Baptist Church in Citrus Springs on Thursday, May 14, 2015 from 10am-11am with a funeral service at 11am.  Pastor Stan Stewart will be officiating.  A committal service will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida at 2:30pm with military honors by the Marion County Honor Guard.
