Richard Robert Timmerman, 71, of Dunnellon, Florida, died Sunday (9/15) at Legacy Hospice House, Ocala. Born September 14, 1942 in Dunkirk, New York to the late Richard and Beatrice Eudora Smith Timmerman.
Mr. Timmerman served in the United States Army from 1960 until he retired in 1980. After retiring he became an LPN through Jamestown Community College. He was then able to help other service members by working at the VA in Kansas City, Missouri.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dunnellon (FL); Bcknow Masonic Lodge and Liberty Lodge, Missouri; Shriners in Kansas City, Missouri; the Consistory, York Rite, and Eastern Star, Missouri; Amaranth of NKC, Missouri; White Shrine of Kansas City, Missouri; Volunteer Fireman at Hose # 2 in Dunkirk, NY; D.A.V.; Life Member of the VFW; and a Hole in One Club Member at Hodge Park, Missouri. Mr. Timmerman was also a Red Cross First Aid Instructor and a Girl Scout6 Leader for the North Atlantic Council.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Timmerman was preceded in death by his sister Dawn Carol Timmerman; daughter Dawn Carol Timmerman; wives Patricia Mrychnsky and Terry batesd Timmerman. Surviving family includes his wife Georgia James Timmerman; children Ingrid (Kevin) Ellis, Ocala, Deborah (Jerry) Reeves, Portland, NY, Darlene (Todd) Shreeves, Kansas City, Missouri, Richard D. Timmerman, Dunkirk, NY, and step daughters Bonnie Lawson Thompson, Ocala, and Theresa Baker, Kansas City, Missouri.
A funeral service, celebrating Mr. Timmerman's life, will be Celebrated on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 6:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church, 21501 West Highway 40, Dunnellon 34431 (352-489-4026) with Pastor Eddie Fulford officiating. Family and friends will visit one hour prior to service time at the church. Private burial at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.
