Robert John “Bobby Stix” Damon
December 14,1949 - April 24, 2026
Bobby Stix Damon passed on peacefully to his next gig on April 24,2026. Born in Abington, Mass. he graduated from Abington High School in 1968 (much to the amazement and relief of his educators). He was involved deeply in his future musical career at an early age, so much so that he needed to be accompanied to most of the clubs he was playing in by his mother, who supported him fully. He and fellow band mates started the band the 5th Regiment in HIgh School. He could be seen around The Cape or playing in Hull, MA at the Dry Dock or Nantasket Beach.
His career led him out to California for a recording contract and he played for such well known names as The Grassroots, Crosby, Stills and Nash and many more.
He also received a degree from University of Miami in Horticulture - his other great love besides music and fast cars.
In September of 2000, he arrived in Dunnellon, FL to help his dearest friends Blair and Althea Mooney open their new restaurant/club The Moon Room, which featured musical talents from both locally and far away. He became a permanent fixture of the Moon Room All Star Band, which he enjoyed for many years. He was also affectionately known as The Pizza Man - fixing pizzas by day and playing at night. He was known to play at other local clubs throughout Citrus, Levy and Marion Counties with his own band Pompous Ass (aka Papa Sass) for years after, until his retirement.
He was a mentor and a tutor of the drums to many students - of all ages - with his sage advice always being “Don’t quit your day job”.
He enjoyed all of life's experiences, but none more so than meeting new people and making new friends, many of which have become family to him over the years. Know that he was truly grateful for the lasting friendships and endless love you gave to him so freely.
He was pre-deceased by his father Roy Damon and his mother Eleanor, who was his biggest fan. He is survived by his brother Russell Damon, nephew Derek Damon, best friend Gail Woods and grandsons Blake Land, Cole Steward and granddaughter Kali Steward. He will be greatly missed by us all.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Contributions in his memory can be made to your local High Schools musical programs in his name. Roberts Funeral Home of Dunnellon has handled all arrangements.
