Robert L. Oakes, Jr. 90 passed away January 28, 2021 in Mission, TX. He was preceded in death by his father R. Lee Oakes, Sr., Miami, FL, mother Evelyn (Hentschel) (Oakes) (Herron) (Jud) SAN Diego, CA, sister Ruby (Oakes) Nichols San Diego, CA, son David Robert Oakes (Mary) Princeton, FL, wife of 48 yrs. Marilyn (Fidler) Oakes of Dunnellon, FL. He is survived by daughter Diane (Oakes) Bell (William) Dunnellon, FL, granddaughter Rebecca Bell (Nick Silardi)  Ocala, FL, grandson Michael Bell (Mekaella Lord) Wildwood, FL, sisters Charlotte Heonis of Raleigh, NC, Marvel Marshall, Lake Placid, FL, brother Richard Oakes (Caroline) McAllen, TX, and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was a member of the Inverness and past member of the North Miami Elks and a member of the Dunnellon Moose. He also was an avid golf player. He also liked playing cards with friends. Bob served as a cook in the Koren war. He will be laid to rest with his wife by his side at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Due to Covid restrictions there will not be a service.

The cemetery is open to visitors from dawn to dusk, 365 days a year.
