Roger W Bess

Roger Bess, 77, of Ocala, Florida (formerly of Brimfield, Illinois), passed away on February 3, 2022 after he lost his courageous battle with COVID pneumonia.

Roger was born on June 10, 1944 to Willard Bess and Rose Noble in Fairbury, Illinois.

On September 17, 1994 he married the love of his life, Martha, in Peoria, Illinois.  Together they had 10 children:  Kimberly Wells (Sean), Susan Patterson (George), Nathan Yoder (Sonja), Monica Kirschner (Andrew), Wayne Bess, Jamil Bess (Ka’lei), Devon Bess (Ansley), Madison Bess, Katie Bess and Jaxson Bess.  He has 9 grandchildren, with one on the way and 4 great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, one brother and three sisters.

Roger worked at Caterpillar in Morton, Illinois for 35 years before retiring and starting his own trucking company.

He was an avid race car fan, a passion started by racing Sprint cars with his Dad.  He enjoyed supporting all of his kids’ activities by being the head chauffeur and #1 fan.  He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his wife and his family with all of his heart.  He enjoyed sharing his love for all of them with everyone he met and was happy to share pictures of them.  Roger never met a stranger and touched the lives of many people he met.

He is preceded in death by his Mother and Father.

Services will be held at Roberts Funeral Home, 19939 E Pennsylvania Ave, Dunnellon, Florida on Monday, February 7.  Gathering of friends and family from 1pm – 2pm followed by a Memorial service at 2pm.
