Ruth Peebles Koontz, Crystal River, Florida, born in Ocala, Sept. 24, 1919, passed away November 13, 2014 at Sylvia’s Hospice House in Ocala. In addition to her family, each of whom had a special personal relationship with her, Ruth loved Golf, the Gators, her girlfriends in Crystal River and Maggie Valley, N.C., and God, complaining lately she would fall asleep in the middle of her prayers. The year Ruth was born, her father went into the furniture business. After WWII, her husband, Madison S. Koontz, joined the business which is now run by her son and grandson. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Madison S. Koontz, her brother, Williard Peebles, two sisters, Olwyn Hornsby and Gladys Carriker, and her much loved grandson, Madison McClellan. Ruth is survived by one sister, Margaret Renn, daughters, Sharon McClellan (Edward) and Katherine Koontz Snyder (Floyd), son Michael Koontz (Diane), and her much loved grandchildren, Mollie McClellan Akes (Mickey) of St. Cloud, John Koontz (Linda), Wade Koontz (Beth), Stafford, Virginia, and Madison A. Koontz (Mary Jane). Ruth has nine great grandchildren who call her “Great Ruth” or “Greaty”, two step grandchildren, and one great, great granddaughter. A graveside service will be held at Highland Memorial Park on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at 2PM.
