Samuel "Sam" E. Gibbs, Jr.

Samuel “Sam” E. Gibbs, Jr., 61, died on Thursday evening at West Marion Community Hospital in Ocala, FL.  He was born on September 21, 1960 in Clarksburg, WV, and was the son to the late Samuel and Eva (McCarty - Hess) Gibbs.

When Sam was five years old, his family moved to Dunnellon from West Virginia. He was a Dunnellon High School graduate class of 1977. After high school, Sam enlisted in the United States Army from 1977-1983. Following the Army he moved back home to Dunnellon where he became a Truck Driver, and was employed with various trucking companies during his career.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle.

Sam leaves behind his son, Kenneth Gibbs, FL, and  his  stepson, Joey Carver, CA; his sisters, Jennifer Burrows, FL, Deborah Cline, MS, and his step-daughter, Amber Lane, AL.

Committal Services will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 2:00 PM with full military honors at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
