Sarah Jane (Smith) Mapes

OCALA, Fla. — Sarah Jane Mapes, 93, Ocala, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, in Dunnellon, Florida.

Sarah was born April 27, 1924, in Stroh, Indiana, to Iris Smith and Daily (Yoder) Smith.

Sarah married Charles E Mapes on Jan. 2, 1941, who preceded her in death along with their two sons, John Mapes and Raymond Mapes; one grandson; two great-grandsons; one great-great-granddaughter; and 11 siblings.

Sarah is survived by five children, Charles E Mapes, Jean (Dennis) Eash, Robert Mapes, all of Elkhart, and David Mapes and Kathy Beardsley of Ocala; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Sarah was a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge 662 in Dunnellon.

Sarah's cremation has taken place and burial will be in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.

Memorial services will take place at 11 a.m. Feb. 10, at the Moose Lodge No. 2308 in Dunnellon.
