ANDREWS, Scotty Joe

Mr. Scotty Andrews, 80, of Ocala, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at Munroe Regional Medical Center.  Mr. Andrews was born in Ocala, and spent his entire life living in and around Marion County.
In 1958, Scotty started working for the City of Ocala on the survey crew with the city engineer’s office.  After a long and successful career, he achieved the highest non-elected position in all of city government when he became the City Manager, a position that he held for 20 years.  Under his leadership, Ocala experienced unprecedented growth, including the designation as an All American City.  Scotty had a tremendous respect for his community, especially its citizens, as well as the environment.  He was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Ocala.  His other memberships and accomplishments are too great to list.
Scotty is survived by his wife of 57 years, Diane, his son Scott Andrews, his wife Kathy, his daughter Stacey Batten, her husband Harry, his mother Flora Priest Andrews, his brothers Richard and Jeff Andrews, all of Ocala, his sisters Martha Pogue, Lake City, and Linda Ertel, Orlando and 3 grandchildren Hannah, Colin and Emma.
