Obituary

Shirley Ann Bowman-Tomlinson went to be with The Lord and beloved family on Friday, June 12th, 2026.

Born May 20th 1934, in Pocahontas, Va., Shirley was the fifth child of William and Lura McCormick. She was preceded in death by her husband Morris W. “Bud” Bowman, her parents, her four sisters, two brothers, one niece and two nephews.

She is survived by her loving husband Bobby “Bob” R.Tomlinson, her devoted furry companion Cruser; four children, Donna Morris, Dunnellon, Fl., Debbie Nolan (Keith) Dunnellon, Fl., Greg Bowman (Michele) Hobart, In., Diana Deck (Tim) Dunnellon, Fl., two step-children Dennis Tomlinson, Columbus, Oh. and Christine Munroe (Mike), Elyria, Oh.

Shirley leaves behind a legacy of love through her family including 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great- grandchildren; her sister in law, Lynn McCormick, Chesterfield, VA;  she is also survived by two nephews, Roger Marsh (Pat) Ooltewah, Tn., Mark Mangus (Rebecca), Willow Springs, Nc., two nieces Monica Moore (Eric) of York, SC. and Carrie Hicks (Justin), Chesterfield, VA; Several great-nieces and great-nephews.

In 2016, Shirley moved to Dunnellon to be close to her daughters after living in Hobart, In. for 61 years. She worked as a Produce manager for BiLo Retail stores for 27 years and was a proud member of Retail Workers of America.

Shirley had a gift for seeing beauty and potential in everything. She loved visiting thrift stores, painting, restoring treasured finds, and creating unique items from bits and pieces. Animals of every kind held a special place in her heart. She delighted in collecting pigs of every shape and size- from cookie jars to salt and pepper shakers- and butterflies brought joy and beauty to her home.

She especially enjoyed spending time outdoors and camping in the RV with her husband Bob. She was an avid fan of RFD-TV and the music of the Gaither Vocal band, though she also enjoyed keeping up with her favorite reality show 90 Day Fiancé.

Shirley will be remembered for her fierce love for her family, her creativity, her warm spirit, and the laughter and joyful chaos she could bring to family events. Most of all, her life will be remembered for the countless lives she touched throughout her 92 years. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 11 AM at First Baptist Church in Dunnellon.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations to be made in Shirley’s memory to First Baptist Church in Dunnellon
