Siegfried Bergler (Siggi), 92, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at the Mid-Pinellas Suncoast Hospice Facility on February 24, 2015. Tammi Ganguli (grandaughter) held his hand while he made the transition. Born on May 7, 1923 in Jogeta, Germany. Siggi spent the first 27 years of his life in Germany surrounded by a loving family. His Daughter, Renate Bergler was his only child.
Siggi moved to the USA in 1950 (arriving in Rochester, NY) and lived there with his sister Wally Geyer (deceased). Siggi moved to Miami, Florida, in 1953 where he practiced his upholstery trade. He met his wife Zelda Bergler and her daughter Andi in 1953 and he married Zelda in 1956 and raised Andi as his own. They spent many summers together in Lake Lure, NC. When Zelda passed away in 1979, Siggi moved to Ocala, Florida. Later he married Irma Gallagher. In 2006 they moved to Treasure Island, FL so their daughter, Andi, could take better care of them. After Irma's death in 2008, Andi cared for Siggi for the rest of his life.
Siggi was active in the Moose, Elks, Jaycees of Miami, Girl Scouts, and various travel clubs. He made many friends smile and laugh. He was a great story teller. He loved to cruise and sailed on 100+ cruises.
Siggi is survived by his daughters Renate Salewski (Dieter), and Andi Ames. His grandchildren, Marina (Salewski) Walker, David Walker Jr. (great-grandchildren Liam and Emily), Britta Feddersen (Heddies; great-grandchildren Lennard, Harm, and Melf), Dennis Walker (Joan; great-grandchild Gabrielle) , Tammi Ganguli (Rajive; great-grandchildren June and Priya).
Siggi did not want a Memorial Service. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution are asked to consider Suncoast Hospice Care Centers (www.suncoasthospice.org).
