Obituary

Teresa Hernandez, born February 5, 1961, in Havana, Cuba, passed away on February 22, 2026, in Ocala, Florida.

Teresa was one of nine brothers and sisters, growing up in a large Cuban family and enduring many hardships. In 1980, she courageously journeyed alone to Miami during the historic Mariel boatlift, seeking freedom and opportunity. That brave decision shaped the life she would go on to build — one centered on family, resilience, and love.

Her greatest achievement and deepest pride were her seven children: Dagoberto, Caridad, Pedro, Adonis, David, Elpidio and Odonell, whom she considered a son. She was also the cherished grandmother of 18 grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to her life. Teresa was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and friend whose warmth and vibrant energy touched everyone she met.

She found happiness in life’s simple but meaningful pleasures — dancing, singing, listening to music, being on her phone, and spending time surrounded by her family. Music was a constant source of joy and comfort for her. She also had a special love for her dog Bella, who was her baby.

Teresa’s strength, courage, and unwavering love will be remembered always. Her legacy lives on in her children, grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know her.

A visitation  will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 2-4 PM at Robert's Funeral Home in Dunnellon, Florida.

She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
