Valerie Estelle (Cubbedge) Brinn

Valerie Estelle Cubbedge Ortagus Brinn, 93, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013. Valerie was born in Homestead, Fla., on Nov. 16, 1919, to (Maude) and George Edward Cubbedge. She spent her childhood and most of her adult life in Saint Augustine, attending Ketterlinus High School.

Valerie was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters, and is survived by her sons, Norbert “Jack” (Patti) Ortagus and Donald Ortagus, both of St. Augustine; and her daughter, Susan (Greg) Teeter of Dunnellon; grandchildren, Donna (Larry) Matthews, Stacy (Jay) Dale, Johna (Steve) Hill, and Austin (Ashley) Teeter, nine great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Valerie was adored by friends and family, and will always be remembered for her caring and witty personality. She was known for her deep seated family values and expertise as a homemaker and cook.

Valerie's family rejoices that she has been called home by her savior. A celebration of life will be planned for family and friends this spring.
