Obituary

Velda Datu Abrams (Velasco), age 51, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on June 18, 2026. Born on September 15, 1974, in Rosales, Pangasinan, Philippines, Velda was the beloved daughter of the late Domides Booe (Datu) and Esperidion Velasco. Velda was lovingly raised by her grandparents, Dominador Datu and Gertrudes Velo Datu, both of whom preceded her in death.

Her grandfather, Dominador, faithfully served as a minister, and through the love, guidance, and Christian example of her grandparents, Velda developed a strong faith in God that remained a cornerstone of her life. She trusted in the Lord’s promises and found strength, comfort, and hope in her faith throughout every season of life. Velda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness, compassion, and joyful spirit touched the lives of many. She dedicated many years of her life to working in healthcare, where she faithfully cared for others with the same compassion and generosity that she showed to her family and friends.

She was known for her incredible work ethic, resilience, and willingness to help anyone in need. Whether at work or at home, Velda approached every responsibility with dedication, perseverance, and a servant’s heart. One of Velda’s greatest joys was bringing people together. She loved planning family parties, holiday gatherings, birthdays, and celebrations, always making sure everyone felt welcomed, loved, and included. She cherished creating special memories with those she loved and found happiness in seeing her family gathered around the table. She also enjoyed cooking, singing, gardening, caring for animals, watching Korean television dramas, and sharing laughter with family and friends. Her warm smile and infectious sense of humor could brighten any room.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Domides Booe (Datu), and her beloved grandparents, Dominador Datu and Gertrudes Velo Datu.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Julian D. Abrams III; her daughter, Abigail Withrow (Abrams) and son-in-law, Andrew Withrow; and her cherished granddaughter, Elise Grego, who brought immeasurable joy to her life. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Julian D. Abrams IV, Derek Abrams, Audory Abrams, and Ashley Abrams. Velda is lovingly remembered by her father, Esperidion Velasco; her sister, Esperanza Ward (Velasco) and husband Christopher Ward, along with their children Michelle Ward, Isaac Ward, and Joan Ward; her brother, Jojo Velasco; and her sister, Hannalore Booe and her son, Beau Sigmon; as well as many extended family members, dear friends, coworkers, and all whose lives were blessed by knowing her.

Velda’s greatest treasure was her family. She loved deeply, gave generously, and faithfully cared for those around her. Her life reflected the grace, compassion, and love of Christ. Through her years of service in healthcare, her devotion to her family, and her unwavering faith in God, she left a legacy that will continue to inspire those who knew her.

Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we take comfort in God’s promise of eternal life and rejoice in knowing that Velda is now at peace in the presence of her Savior, reunited with her mother, grandparents, and loved ones who have gone before her.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23

Velda’s love, faith, laughter, and servant’s heart will never be forgotten. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and eternally remembered.

Forever in God’s care.
