Virginia May Rake, age 90 of Citrus Springs, Florida passed away on January 27, 2017 at her home with her loving family by her side and Hospice of Citrus County.
Virginia was born on October 19, 1926 to Jesse Floreal and Austa Burt Barton in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She made her career as an over the road truck driver. She retired to Florida in 1983 from Oklahoma, and made her home in Citrus County Florida in 1995. Virginia loved to spend time with her family especially her grandchildren, travel, fish, and Wednesday night Shuffleboard with her friends. She was a member of the Loyal Order of The Moose, Veterans of Foreign War, and the American Legion. She was full of energy, and had an amazing passion for life. She was loved by many, and adored by all. She will be greatly missed. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, husband Tommy B. McKee, brothers Marvin Dale and William Wayne Barton, grandson Tommy Lee Poe, niece Patricia Barton Goad, great niece Angela Westfall Stout, and great nephew Eric Dearinger. She is survived by her daughter Dolores Diana Miller of Citrus Springs, Florida, and son Jerry Lee McKee of Michigan. Grandchildren: Monica Renee Taylor, Monty Ray Taylor and wife Shelly, Lance Douglas Miller and wife Elizabeth. Great grandchildren: Christopher Smith, Jessica Ritter and husband Curtis, Devin Taylor, Samantha Whitener, Logan Douglas Miller, Laeton Douglas Miller, and Landon Douglas Miller. Great great grandchildren: Cassy Smith, Cody Ritter, and Elizabeth Ritter. Niece and nephews: Judy Gail Dearinger, Arthur Ray Barton, and Douglas Wayne Barton. Great nieces and nephews: Karen Barton, Alisha Dearinger, James Barton, Douglas Barton Jr., Brian Westfall and many cousins, friends and neighbors.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday January 31, 2017 at Roberts Funeral Home of Dunnellon, with Chaplain Otis Barnett officiating.
Virginia is to be buried in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday February 3, 2017 at Floral Haven Funeral Home, with burial to follow at the Floral Haven Cemetery.
