William C. "Bill" Baker, 70, of Dunnellon, FL peacefully passed away Oct. 15, 2011, at the Citrus Memorial Hospice Center in Inverness, FL following complications of Legionaires Disease. Bill spent a large part of his life in construction, having shared ownership of Schwartz and Baker Construction and Exco Contractors. He spent his last 25 years of his working profession as a manager for the Penn. Dept. of Transportation whereupon he retired as a District Manager. While at PennDOT, Bill received numerous awards for his performance and contributions as well as the State's Star of Excellence Award from Gov. Dick Thornburg.
Following his service with PennDOT, Bill relocated from the Poconos with his wife, Sharon to Dunnellon, FL upon which he gained certification in Florida real estate selling and further obtained his real estate brokers license in Dec. of 2010. Subsequently, he and Sharon began their own business as Palm and Sun Realty Corp.
Bill thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, and was an avid enthusiast of golf, along with other various activities.
Bill was predeceased by his parents Ervin and Edna Baker of Nicholson, PA. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Sharon as well as his 2 sons, David and his wife, Lori; August and his wife Diana; and his daughter Cheri and her husband Jimmie Pillow. Also surviving are his brothers Ervin and his wife Shirley, Ronald and his wife Judy, Gerry and his wife Nancy, and Clark and his wife Karen, along with 2 grandsons, a new granddaughter, and 8 step-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Nicholson United Methodist Church 64 State Street Nicholson, PA 18446 November 7, 2011 at 4:30 pm.
