William J “Willie” Carey, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on January 9th, 2024. He fought courageously through many health issues in the latter part of his life. Courage was in his DNA as he served the City of New York as a fireman in Engine 55 on Broome Street in Little Italy, Manhattan. Willie was a master carpenter who could build anything, and he was known as “Mr. Fix-It” because of his ability to repair things with ease. Cruising was another favorite of his, and he made many trips with his wife and friends.
He was a parishioner of St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Dunnellon. Willie shared life in marriage for 66 years with Audrey Carey, who survives him.
