William M. Hager, 83, died on June 28, 2016 at the Ted and Diane Brandley Hospice House in Summerfield. He leaves behind his wife, Betty Hagar; his four children, two stepchildren and fifteen grandchildren. William was born January 9, 1933 in Hardy, KY to the late William McKinley Hager and Nola (Farmer) Hager. He joined the Marine Corp at the age of fourteen and served for twenty one years during the korean conflict and the vietnam war retiring as a staff seargant. After his retirement William worked for several different agencies as a deputy sheriff. In 1993 he married Betty (who was born and raised in Dunnellon) while he was working in Crystal River at the nuclear plant. They lived in citrus county and eventually made their home in Dunnellon. William loved to fish as Betty States “He and his mother were fishing buddies”. Bill didnt belong to a church but was a Christian man who accepted the Lord as his personal saviour.
