William (Bill) Marion passed away on December 11, 2025, at the age of 71.
He is survived by his children, Erika Hunter and Billy Marion; grandson Wyatt; sister Darlene Riden; and nieces and nephews.
Born in Washington D.C., and raised in Maryland, Bill stayed busy working for his father and later for Nationwide Insurance, before moving his family to Florida in 1988. Once in Florida, Bill formed the business that he owned and operated until retirement in 2018, Superior Auto Service, in Vero Beach, Florida.
Although “settling down” was not in his nature, during his retirement, Bill finally got to nurture a lesser known side of him as he tended to his small homestead in Fellsmere, Florida. Bill kept bees, native plants and flowers, and built a beautiful pond for local wildlife to enjoy. His love for animals and nature was strong and well-known by those close to him.
If you knew Bill, you likely knew that his uniform’s name tag said “Lonebear,” and that his Native American heritage was deeply important to him. His ultimate happy place was his cabin high up in the mountains of western North Carolina. He loved going to car shows, making Native American drums and jewelry, and he was a great cook.
Bill wouldn’t want flowers sent or donations made on his behalf; instead, he’d want you to stop making excuses and go do something you love — preferably with people you love.
A private celebration of life will be held for Bill on January 17, 2026. For details, please contact Billy Marion at 352-239-3790.
A’ho.
