Zonnia Lorina “Nanny” Brooks Barnes
October 19, 1920- April 30, 2014
Zonnia, known to most as Nanny, passed away after 93 years in the comfort of her own home surrounded by loving family. Originally from Georgia, she moved to Dunnellon in 1965 where she retired from the Marion County School System. Her love for gardening and the outdoors is what kept her young for so long. She was an avid baseball fan who rarely missed a Braves game on TV. She is survived by her daughter Shirley Barbree, 3 sisters, 3 step-children, 3 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and countless others who adopted her as their grandmother. She was preceded in death by Carl H. Brooks, Morris C. Barnes, and 5 siblings.
She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother who will be missed dearly.
Funeral Services for Zonnia will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at 2:00PM at Roberts Funeral Home of Dunnellon. Her family will be receiving relatives and friends for a public viewing at the Funeral Home from 12 noon until service time. Burial will follow at Dunnellon Memorial Gardens.
