Allan "Sarge" R. Tidd, Sr.

Dunnellon- Allan “Sarge” Tidd, Sr., 77, died unexpectedly on May 11, 2021 at West Marion Community Hospital in Ocala. He was born on December 19, 1943 in Cranston, R.I. and was the son to the late Harold G. and Mabel (Branigan) Tidd.  Allan moved to Ocala in 2004 from West Greenwich, Rhode Island and then to Dunnellon in 2005. In 1963, Sarge joined the United States Air force and served a year  in the Vietnam War and in the mid 1970’s he enlisted, served and retired with the United States Army National Guard.  In 2004 after an extensive career with Hoechst Celanese Corporation in Rhode Island, He and his wife Anna made their home in Ocala and then Dunnellon in 2005. While living in Dunnellon, Sarge became a member of the American Legion Wall Rives Post 58, Dunnellon Masonic Lodge 136 and the Rainbow Springs Village Church. In his spare time, Sarge  enjoyed his time with side business,  Allan and Anna Caners, restoring cane, rush, splint and wicker furniture as well as  woodworking, golfing and feeding the fish. His family enjoyed many good memories that will live on forever to be shared with one another.

He is survived by his wife of 55years, Anna Tidd, Dunnellon; his son, Allan Tidd, Jr., (Rechel), Palm Coast, FL; his daughters, Theresa Baxter, Beverly Hills, FL and Michaele Tidd, Inglis, FL; his brother, Earl Tidd (Rosean), Carolina, RI; Nancy Mosher (Raymond), North Kingston, RI; his twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Roberts Funeral Home in Dunnellon. There will be a public viewing on Thursday, May 20, 2021 from 5-7 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow funeral services at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell at 1:30 PM.
