It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Benny Morris, who peacefully left this world on May 3rd, 2023, at his home in Dunnellon, Florida. Benny was born on October 23rd, 1940, in Samson, Alabama, and was 82 years old at the time of his passing.
Benny grew up in Clearwater, Florida, after his family moved there in 1946. He spent his career in management in the air conditioning and sheet metal industry. Benny and his wife Karen moved to Dunnellon in 2000, where they found a welcoming community. Benny enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and natural beauty of the river and gulf coast. Benny was a member of the First Methodist Church of Dunnellon. During retirement, Benny pursued his passion for art, creating many beautiful pieces using copper, driftwood, and other natural materials.
Benny was also an avid fisherman and boater, and he spent many happy hours on the water pursuing his favorite pastime. In addition to his many interests, Benny enjoyed 50's, country and bluegrass music. He loved spending time with his family and was a devoted husband to his wife of 61 years, Karen (Kluepfel). Benny was a brother to Eddie Morris and also a proud father to his daughter, Kim Louttit and husband Eric, and his son Kevin Morris and wife Marisa. He was a loving grandfather to several grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Benny was a kind and gentle soul who always had a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone he met. He will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his passion for the arts, and his love of nature.
A celebration of Benny's life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Benny's family requests that donations be made in his memory by visiting Chapters Health Foundation's website and following the instructions for making a donation care of the HPH Hospice. This organization provides compassionate care to those in need, and Benny would have been proud to support their mission.
