Elizabeth DuCharme Obituary

Elizabeth “Francene” DuCharme, 76, went home to be with the Lord Nov. 6, 2018 from under the compassionate care of Hospice of Marion County at Legacy House in Ocala, FL.

She began her life journey June 24, 1942 at Methodist Hospital in Dallas, Texas.

Francene grew up a happy child, dancing on the dining room table at the age of two, in the home built by her father in Casa Linda, a suburb of Dallas. She learned to play the piano and loved to sing, especially sacred hymns.

Francene graduated from Bryan Adams High School in 1960. She attended Executive Secretarial School, and worked as a secretary at several brokerage and architectural firms.

Francene was an accomplished square dancer, exhibition team clogger and choir member.

It was through choir activities at Duncanville FUMC (TX) that she met her husband, and love of her life, Rick DuCharme. They were happily married for 24 years.

Retiring in 1999, Francene and Rick moved to Dunnellon where they built their home in River Bluffs on the Withlacoochee River.

Francene enjoyed singing in two choirs and playing hand bells in the bell choir at Dunnellon FUMC. She served as Song Leader at the 8 a.m. Sunday worship service for many years. She was an active participant in Bible studies and Sunday School.

Francene was an accomplished cook and seamstress. She was an avid fisherman and always enjoyed feeding the fish at our dock.

Francene was an active member of the Citrus Squares square dancing club. She also enjoyed mission trips to Rural Mission at Johns Island, SC; United Methodist Committee on Relief Depot in Baldwin, LA; and mission projects in Alaska, Costa Rica, Panama, Ecuador, and Colombia.

She was preceded in death by her mother Beatrice Irene Marble, father Martin McNairy Bull, Jr. and half-sister Annie Frances Soloski.

Francene is survived by her loving husband Rick DuCharme of Dunnellon; sister Suellen Brasfield (Sam), nephews Michael “Scott” Brasfield, and Martin “Marty” Brasfield (Courtney) of Midlothian, Texas; and brother in law, David DuCharme (Marcia) Davenport, FL.

She leaves lifelong friends, Marie Schneider (husband Fritz) of Sunnyvale, CA; Cheryl Thompson (husband Jim) of Brazil, IN; Carolyn Standfast of Waxahachee, TX; a host of church family friends at Dunnellon FUMC; the Citrus Squares dancers; and her neighbors in River Bluffs.

Francene will be missed by all, but we know she took the final “promenade home” with Jesus into her heavenly home and is now dancing and singing in that “Heavenly Choir.”

A celebration of life will be officiated by Pastor Eddie Fulford at Dunnellon FUMC on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 11 a.m. with viewing at 10 a.m. She will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dunnellon FUMC “For Missions”
