Dunnellon- Ernest “Ernie” Descheneaux, Jr., 78, died in the early morning hours on Friday, October 2, 2020 at Legacy Hospice House. Ernie was born in Bridgeport, CT on July 23, 1942. He was the son to the late Ernest L. Descheneaux, Sr. and Margaret M. (Klamka) Descheneaux. Following high school in Bridgeport, Ernie enlisted in the United States Navy. After he served our country, Ernie joined the ranks of the Fairfield Police Department, where he eventually retired and then relocated to Florida in 2003. He was a faithful Parishioner, Eucharistic Minister and Alter Server for St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Dunnellon. Ernie was a life member of the Angelo Santos VFW Post 4781 in Ocala, a member of the Wall Rives American Legion Post 58 in Dunnellon and the US Navy Port 5 National Association of Naval Veterans. We Love you and We will Miss You until We meet again. May your soul and all the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Descheneaux, Dunnellon, FL; his sons, Robert J. Witkowski, Venetia, PA and Ernest L. Descheneaux, III, Waterbury, CT; his daughters, Corine Hellgren, Easton, CT and Cheryl Toto, North Wales, PA; his sisters, Sandra Ricco, Naples, FL, Sonia Gilbert, Shelton, CT, Andree Pesci, Vernon, CT and his nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 10:30 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Dunnellon.
